About Us
DRK is operated by Charlie & Adrian New, the idea being conceived in 2011, as a career change. The facility is based on a UK design, taking into consideration building conditions encountered in Cyprus. Building approval, was granted after satisfying Planning Department requirements, & construction started December 2017.
Aside from both previously having Belgian Shepherds, German Shepherds, Terriers, German / Japanese Spitz, & now two local mixed breeds. Charlie has experience in rearing KC registered litters of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, as well as being a foster home for Belgian Shepherds. By profession Charlie is a qualified RGN. Adrian’s work took them to the Middle East, where Charlie worked in an admin support role for The British Vet. in Abu Dhabi.
Adrian concluded a career in Transport & Project Forwarding prior to taking this career change in 2015. Since then, he has successfully completed his Kennel & Cattery Management Level 3 course through the Animal Care College, UK & achieved Associate Membership status for DRK.
Both Charlie & Adrian are committed to provide a safe, secure home for your dog during their stay, with dedicated one-to-one DRK staff interaction & enrichment activities.
Our preferences for one-to-one staff / pet interaction comes from experience of having a dominant aggressive & adopting a “companion”, which was unknowingly nervous aggressive, consequently both females had to live separately. The social dynamics of a changing group of interacting pets can be difficult to control – this is why DRK choose to operate in this way. The only exception would be pets from the same household.
DRK is aligned with the operational standards applied in the UK.
ENVIRONMENTAL – DRK was designed to manage all generated liquid & solid waste through a dedicated septic tank / soak away, Any waste packaging, that can be, is recycled, or is biodegradable bulk purchasing where possible ensures this is kept to a minimum, thereby limiting our waste footprint. All lighting is LED & the climate control is an energy efficient inverter based unit.
